Meet Your Vocal Coach

I grew up singing in church, with car rides often filled with cast recordings of The Music Man, Camelot, and Les Miserables. Those musicals sparked a lifelong love of storytelling through song. Although my tiny high school had no theater program (my graduating class was only six students!), I auditioned for a county-wide summer musical and was cast in my very first show. From that moment on, I was hooked.

Initially planning to becomae a math teacher, I shifted directions and pursued vocal performance at Indiana State University, where I was classically trained in voice, performed in choirs, and appeared in several theater productions. My passion for acting led me to the then-new Musical Theatre program at Indiana University, where I trained in acting, voice, speech, and song interpretation. During this time, I also began teaching voice lessons to local high school students under the guidance of my professors, and I served as music director and arranger for Indiana University’s all-male a cappella group, Straight No Chaser.

After graduating, I moved to New York to continue training in voice and acting while performing in Off-Broadway and regional productions. In 2014, I joined Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, where I spent more than 1,400 performances on Broadway and the first national tour, eventually taking over the lead role of Gerry Goffin. Most recently, I have spent over three years performing as the Duke of Monroth in the first national tour of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, adding more than 1,100 performances to my journey.

Throughout my career, I have continued to study voice - taking lessons, completing vocal pedagogy courses, and learning through the practice of performance, not just my own, but also of the incredible artists I have been blessed to work with. I have learned tips and tricks to go along with the technique of voice, and using them to better support storytelling and performance.
